32^nd Annual Sterling Invitational

Bible Quizzing Tournament

February 17, 2007

Who is invited:  Any church that has a Teen Bible Quiz Team consisting of at least two quizzers.  We do not allow All-Star teams, although we do allow combined teams that have quizzed together all season.  If you have any questions about your team status, please let me know.

When and where:  Saturday, February 17, 2007, at First Church of the Nazarene, 411 13th Avenue in Sterling, Illinois, 61081.  There will be a coaches’ meeting at 7:45 a.m., with quizzing beginning promptly at 8:30 a.m.  All quizzing should be finished by 6:00 p.m.

Chapters covered:  Acts, chapters 1-24 out of the New International Version.

Entry fee:  $30.00 per team, no refunds.  This does not include meals.  The entry fee goes toward the expenses of the tournament.  Please make checks payable to Sterling First Church of the Nazarene.

Deadline for Entries:  January 31, 2007, or until all positions are filled.  We will be setting up a “Round Robin” tournament for either 27, 36 or 45 teams.  Please register early to reserve your spot!  Mail your registration to the address listed below or register online at www.centralregionbq.org

Packets containing the registration forms are usually mailed the first week in December.  If you do not receive one or want to make sure you do, please contact the tournament director. 

Scholarship Award:  Scholarships from Olivet Nazarene University will be awarded to the 10 top quizzers.  

Trophies:  Trophies will be awarded for the top 16 teams and the top 15 individuals.

Offering: We will be taking a special offering to support the Bible Quizzing program around the world. God has blessed us so much; let’s give back to those in need.

Friday Night:  Again this year we are planning a come and go fellowship time on Friday, February 16, 2007 beginning at 7:00 P.M.  Please come by for a time of fellowship and refreshments.  Also, we are planning a short officials meeting beginning at 8:00 P.M.  We would like as much of the equipment as possible to be delivered / set-up on Friday evening.  We will be using the Quiz Machine program in all rooms and having the equipment set-up beforehand will make the morning much smoother.

Overnight Lodging:  This year we regret that we will not be able to offer housing.  If your team has stayed with one of our church families in the past and would like to make individual arrangements, please contact me and I will help you contact them directly.  We are in the process of securing a block of rooms at some of our area motels, though arrangements are not yet final at this date.  Updated information will be posted on our church website: www.thesterlingchurch.org/youth/sterlinginvitational.html

We strongly recommend coming in and staying Friday night, as quizzing begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and may not end until after 6:00 p.m.  This can be a very long and tiring day for your quizzers.
